Apartments

Apartments at The International are marked by their generosity of space, unparalleled among modern developments. All spaces (except the bathrooms) have an exceptional three-metre ceiling height, wide-boarded timber flooring and large expanses of glass running out to generous conservatory spaces. Every apartment’s orientation has been designed around the flow of the space and to take full advantage of the breathtaking views in every direction. This creates a connection to the outdoors that is unrivalled in New Zealand apartment living.

Interior Design Rufus Knight

Rufus Knight is one of New Zealand’s talented young interior designers with a cool, calm style that is at once minimal and clean, yet warm. He favours real materials that last, and then treats them with respect throughout his projects.

He trained at Victoria University of Wellington, then went on to work with the highly regarded Auckland practice Fearon Hay, where he oversaw major interior fitouts ranging from large houses to restaurants and bars. In 2015 he relocated to Antwerp, to work with Vincent Van Duysen Architects, where he has worked on a portfolio of beautiful projects including the Alexander Wang flagship store in London.

Establishing Knight Associates in 2016, his work has been published internationally and he was awarded the Designers Institute of New Zealand’s highest achievement for Spatial Design, the Purple Pin, in 2015. Notable projects include curating part of the New Zealand national pavilion at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale, prestigious private residential and multi-residential addresses across New Zealand, and collaborating with established global brands such as Aēsop, Minotti, Les Mills, and Fisher & Paykel.

Materials and Finsihes

Materials have been chosen for both their beauty and durability – floors are laid with imported timber with acoustic underlay and there is extensive use of vein-cut natural stone throughout.

An exercise in luxurious restraint, the bathrooms are reminiscent of those found in a six-star hotel. Vein-cut travertine stone reaches to the full height of the ceiling, matched by custom timber cabinetry and stone basins, both built to interior architect Rufus Knight’s specifications.

Unlike many modern apartments, the bedrooms at The International are spacious, contemporary and open, with stunning wide-sweeping city, park or harbour views.

The luxury kitchens are designed to be generous, with expansive stone benchtops leading into the open-plan living areas. Custom cabinetry features timber fronts. Stone splashbacks and precise task lighting create the perfect kitchen. There are integrated fridge-freezers and induction cooktops, with European appliances.

Services

Each apartment is loaded with modern technology. Enterprise grade gigabit broadband provided by Liverton is available in every apartment with full Wi-Fi coverage. Roaming Wi-fi is also available in all the common areas. Smart wiring in each bedroom and in the living spaces provides flexibility for home office and entertainment equipment. A video security panel allows owners to safely grant visitors entry.

Residents use a software portal to book facilities, track incoming parcels, log maintenance requests, receive notifications and access documentation.

All apartments are fully air-conditioned and centrally heated. Insulation and double glazing exceed the highest energy efficiency and acoustic ratings of the current building code and ceiling lighting is high-efficiency LED.
